Tourist arrivals in Cyprus broke another record in February and arrivals in the first two months of the year exceeded the number of tourists that visited the island during the same period in previous years, according to CNA News Service.

The results of the Passengers Survey, arrivals of tourists reached 105,571 in February 2019 compared with 101,481 in February 2018, an increase of 4 per cent.

February 2019 saw the highest volume of tourist arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the specific month, the Statistical Service announced.

In addition, for January and February 2019, arrivals stood at 187,541 compared with 177,348 in 2018, an increase of 5.7 per cent. This is the greatest number of arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the first two months of the year, they added.

Cystat also noted that tourist arrivals from the UK increased by 3.9 per cent in February 2019 compared with February 2018. The UK is still the main source of tourism in February at 35.1 per cent, followed by Greece at 11.4 per cent, Russia at 8.8 per cent and Israel at 7.5 per cent.

In 2018, a record breaking number of tourists visited Cyprus, close to 4 million.
